Popular kids' toothpastes among 4M tubes recalled nationwide

Millions of tubes of toothpaste, including products featuring Barbie, Hot Wheels and Crayola branding, are being recalled nationwide.

More than 4 million tubes are included in the recall, which covers more than a dozen products sold under the Brush Buddies, evo and ARU brands, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA classified the recall as Class II, citing "deviations" from current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) requirements.

A Class II recall means exposure to a product could cause "temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences," while the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered remote, according to the FDA's website.

NEARLY 1.6M POUNDS OF HOT DOGS, BACON AND OTHER MEATS RECALLED NATIONWIDE

The affected toothpaste was distributed by California-based Ashtel Studios Inc. and manufactured by Pritam International Private Limited in India. The recall was initiated Sept. 10 and remains ongoing.

Among the recalled products are Brush Buddies Barbie Bubble Gum Flavor toothpaste and Hot Wheels Strawberry Flavor toothpaste, with 409,800 and 411,600 tubes affected, respectively.

More than 960,000 tubes of three Crayola Silly Scents varieties — bubble gum, watermelon and strawberry — are also included.

The largest individual quantity involves nearly 798,000 tubes of Brush Buddies Whitening Anti-Cavity Fluoride Toothpaste with Baking Soda in Cool Mint flavor.

The recall also covers Brush Buddies My Little Pony toothpaste, several ice cream-flavored varieties and other whitening and cavity-protection toothpastes.

Evo Advanced Whitening and Sensitive toothpastes and ARU Gum Health and Cavity Protection varieties are also affected.
